TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency) -- National soccer side of Iran arrived in Kuwait Monday to play a friendly.

Iran’s Croat head coach Branko Ivankovic said the friendly is a warm-up game for the Asian Cup.

He added, "In defiance of the players' fatigue due to an Asian qualifier against Lebanon last week and the club competitions, we welcomed Kuwait's invitation.

"Since the national side will hold a long-term camp six months later, friendlies like Kuwait clash are of great importance. "Such matches -- whatever the results -- raise the team's spirit."

Kuwait hosts Iran Tuesday to honor national player Badr Haji, who hangs up his boots.
